The power company in Hampton Roads is Dominion Power.  They offer many services including Budget Billingonline bill payenergy share and more.  

During the summer and winter your energy bill will usually increase.  To avoid these increases, you can sign up for Budget Billing.  The Budget Billing plan, charges you based on the amount of energy you use for the year.  You will receive a bill for the same amount of money every month.


If you or someone you know can’t pay for heat and is in danger of getting the heat cut off, the EnergyShare program may be able to help.   EnergyShare is a program that helps pay home heating bills for those in need.  This program is usually a last resort for the elderly, people who are having money problems and people who are ill.

The Columbia Gas Company of Virginia offers a variety of services through its e-services website. Through the website you can: 
  • Pay your bill
  • Choose a gas plan that’s right for you
  • Turn off or transfer service
  • Get answers to common questions
  • Talk to customer service representatives
  • Report a gas leak 
  • Access account information 
  • Submit a meter reading 
  • Get information on assistance programs 
  • Request enrollment in the ZipCheck automatic deduction program  (automatically takes money from you bank account every month)
  • Sign up for budget payment 
  • Schedule a service visit 

For 24-hour emergency service, call 1 (800) 544-5606.  Emergencies include gas leak, odor of gas and carbon monoxide.

For additional questions about your utilities, please contact your local Department of Utilities.  They can assist you with paying your bills, starting and stopping service, reporting a high bill, reporting a leak, reporting low water pressure, requesting additional trash cans, well water testing, reporting a water/sewer break, and more.
